Cross Processed Picture Effect

You know those blogs that you have to check every day, without fail? Well Abduzeedo is definetly the one for me. I was introduced to this site from Dirk, and now I’m hooked. I’ve learned so much from this dude! One thing I recently learned was this Cross-Processed Lomo Effect. I know people have been using it for a while, but I’m excited to finally be able to do it myself!!! Here are some of the pictures that I’ve done. Its an awesome effect in my opinion, and it livens up most pictures. [I've posted the pictures with, and without the effect.]

Yes is the New No

The Box Office hasn’t shown any movies that interested me lately. Upon the list of movies I wouldn’t care if I missed was Twilight. My best friend Alicia and I had planned on seeing this movie when it first came out, because everyone was raving about it. Well tuesday night, after many previous attempts to see it, I went to go see Twilight with Alicia, but we missed the show. This was pleasantly ironic. So asking Madelen, one of our many friends at the theaters, what else was playing, she told us we could see Yes Man.

This movie was on my list right above Twilight. I’ve heard mixed reviews, and the commercial did nothing to spike my interest, but nonetheless I went. I was so happy I did! This movie was so funny. I could not stop laughing. It had a couple scenes I could’ve done without, but overall great movie. And what made me love this movie more than the hilarity, was the message. Yes is the new no. I love that. I changed my philosophy when I walked out of that movie. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you said yes, after you told someone no? Well I have. And this guy found the love of his life saying yes to something that he would have ordinarily said no to. So now I seriously think about it before I say no. Im not saying that you have to say yes to everything, but consider it. If I would have said no to seeing this movie, I would have missed a great laugh with my friends, and I wouldn’t have seen one of my favorite actresses, of whom I wasn’t aware was in this movie. This was a great movie, and I highly recommend it.

My New Car

So for Christmas my parents bought me a car. I was so surpised. I was in disbelief. Anyway here it is!

Its a Mercury Cougar. I love it. And of course, there isn’t a straight shot of it, because you’re dealing with me, but I think the artistic ones suffice.

Here are some of my favorite things from ’08. Music, Movies and TV Shows.

Vampire Weekend

’08 was a pretty good year for music, and VW would have to be my fave this year. Their music is so great and different. Its not something you hear from artists nowadays. I bought their CD not knowing more than 2 songs, and I was so thankful I did. There isn’t one song on the CD that I dislike.

The New Pornographers

Another band I’m absolutely in love with is, The New Pornographers. Contrary to their name though, their music has nothing to do with pornography. The band gets its name from Jimmy Swaggart, who once called rock and roll “the new pornography.” They’re so creative, and I love listening to their harmonies. The music they create is beautiful.

Although I know it seems a bit cliche to name The Dark Knight as one of my favorite movies of ’08, I’m going to do it anyway. This movie was great. My main reason for naming it in this list, is Heath Ledger. I know people lost respect for him for doing Brokeback Mountain, but I think he did an amazing job with this movie. He was BRILLIANT! He was a very versatile actor. He went from playing a squire in A Knights Tale, to a romantic in Casanova, and then to this deranged psychopath in The Dark Knight. Being able to play so many different roles, and so naturally, made him an amazing actor, and in turn made The Dark Knight one of my faves of ’08.

The Changeling. This movie was intense. It was heartbreaking at some points, some points were hopeful, and other times were stressful. Angelina Jolie showed me how truly amazing she is as an actress. She blew me away. She puts you in this story. Your heart breaks with her, you get frustrated beside her, and you feel angry alongside her. Its a beautiful tragedy. Never let go of hope.

Heroes. Wow. Season 3 is unbelievable. By the end of every episode, my jaw dropped, and all I could say was, “What!! What!! No Way!” It was crazy. If you haven’t got into it yet, go rent the first two seasons, and catch up. Its worth it.

Dirty. Sexy. Money. My guilty pleasure. I love this show. It has to be on my list of faves! This show is hot. I love everything about it.

So I found this girl using Pandora, and I think shes pretty cool. I looked her up because the song that Pandora played was cobrastyle, which is a remake of the Teddybears Stockholm song. So I checked her out, and found out her music videos are awesome. She looks like one of the lollipop kids in this music video, but on the whole she’s pretty easy on the eyes. I just love her creative style.

Christmas Cookies

Gingerbread Cookies

Ahh gingerbread, you love it, or you hate it. I happen to love it. Especially with a cup of coffee to go with it. I had to make these gingerbread cookies about three times, I made them for our Class of ’09 Bake Sale, our Home Ec Dessert Theater, a Christmas party, and I have a feeling I’ll be making them a couple more times. There pretty fun to make, because I love to bake, but sadly, I am now sick of gingerbread. And of course trying a cookie from every batch didn’t help at all. I hope I get over being sick of them, because me and gingerbread had some good times, it might take me a while though. I have more dough in the refrigerator waiting for me to bake them, but we’ll see. Maybe my family will enjoy eating them. I was pretty happy with the end result…

Skid-Row

My Dad and I went to Skid-Row this past Sunday, and I was so blessed I went. At first i was a little apprehensive, since I had one of my best friends over, and we’d stayed up all night Saturday, but I knew that I needed to deny myself and go. So I got up, and guess what…I survived! We traveled down to Los Angeles, and it was a beautiful day, perfect weather, and beautiful skies. We got there, after much difficulty trying to park on the crazy streets of LA (we ended up paying for parking, it figures) and we were blown away! There were about 2000 kids lined up on 4th street, and there were about the same amount of motorcyclists as kids. They brought in toys for these kids by the dozens, and they didn’t mess around. They were bringing in huge stuffed animals, some of the which were taller than the people they were strapped to the bike with.
So all in all, these kids got about 2-3 toys each. It was so cool to see their happy faces, not knowing how/where they spend Christmas, or if they get anything at all. These kids deserve to have gifts, and I hope they have an amazing Christmas. It showed me how fortunate a lot of us are, and what we take for granted. So it was great of Fred Jordan Missions to do this. I pray God blesses that ministry in every way possible for what they do. Its needed desperately in this world.
